I got my magnetic bases!! They are awesome, hence the title. I ordered them in Germany (www.magnetbases.de). Really good service and fast as well. I have added some pics to demonstrate how it works.
Yes, they work for tin models as well. Although I probably would not try holding them upside down too much.
I used the GW's modular movement tray with the metal sheet that was provided with the magnets. Simply a matter of glueing the sheet onto the movement tray and you are done.
